EACOP Passes 90% Pipeline Burial as Project Nears Completion

The Story: The 1,443 km East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), running from Kabaale in Hoima to Tanzania’s Tanga coast, is moving into its final construction stages. By early August, about 93% of the pipeline had been lowered into trenches and 90% buried, while pre-commissioning and works on associated facilities continued.

The Built Environment Takeaway: EACOP is one of East Africa’s largest linear infrastructure projects to date. Its scale provides a regional reference point for pipeline welding, trenching across varied terrain, major crossings, reinstatement works and environmental controls associated with heavy civil construction.
